Sertoli cells

The seminferous tubule also contains Sertoli cells (green) embedded between the differentiating sperm cells (red). Sertoli cells nurture the developing sperm cells by secreting hormones and proteins required for spermatogenesis. Sertoli cells also establish and maintain the stem cell niche to ensure renewal of sperm cell precursors.  (Roger Wagoner, Univ Delaware)
